iePolitics: A Suggestion for the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors

Dear Members of the Board of Supervisors:

Aren’t all of you tired of being held hostage by an out-of-control District Attorney who uses his prosecutorial powers to threaten and intimidate you when you know you’ve done nothing wrong?  Now it looks like he is going to try to extort a larger allocation to his budget so he can waste more money on political persecution.

It’s time to take your authority and power back.  Grow a pair!!  Seriously. Continue reading

iePolitics: Not enough arrests for Ramos’ political career?

Sources close to the investigation have revealed that San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos wanted to have arrest warrants issued for all five John Does at the same time that warrants were issued for former Assessor Bill Postmus and former Assistant Assessor Jim Erwin.  It was Attorney General Jerry Brown who crushed Ramos’ plan to arrest Colonies Partners Jeff Burum and Dan Richards, consultant Patrick O’Reilly, Fourth District Chief of Staff Mark Kirk and Second District Supervisor Paul Biane.  It was also Brown who insisted that they not be personally named in the complaint.

iePolitics: Lying to the Liar

iePolitics has learned from a reliable source that our favorite yellow singing Canary has been told by the District Attorney’s office that he will never have to be on the witness stand and offer up testimony against is former boss, colleagues and subordinates.  It’s hard to say if this is what he is really being told or is just what he is telling those around him.

I wonder what Adam Aleman will do when he is served with his first subpoena?  Will it be the shock it seems it will be?  What will be especially interesting is the fact that Adam has told those around him the same story he told me, i.e., he only repeated rumors; he had no first-hand knowledge of anything; the investigators intimidated him, etc.  Does he understand the concept of witness impeachment?  Wonder what that will do to his plea bargain?

iePolitics: Grammar, Spelling, and Facebook

First of all, I was happy to see that the photo was removed from the official’s Facebook page.  I knew it was not something they would allow if they had known it was there to begin with.  Although they are not currently running for public office, I think any politico understands that is not the sort of photo one wants on anything connected with them.  There are a certain segments of the population, especially older folks and the religious right who vote in higher percentages, who would be offended.  Such things can come back to haunt at the most inopportune moments.  Image is everything.

And the necessity of creating a professional image is the real point to this post. Continue reading

InlandPolitics: Letter to Jeff Burum

I meant to post this earlier today, but ran out of computer time.  This reminds me of one of the very first conversations Mark Kirk and I had in 2008.  I chastised him for accepting contributions from Colonies.  He told me that Jeff does more for other people in a week than most do in a year.  He said that Jeff is very charitable.  I know he helped me when I needed it most. I’m glad to see his peers are supporting him.

February 12, 2010

Dear Jeff,

We write this letter to ask you to cease your passive stance towards District Attorney Michael Ramos.

News of the unwarranted attack on your reputation and credibility, and that of your friends and supporters has reached many of us in the last forty-eight hours.

You have been a respected member of your community for years. You have been unselfish in helping your community and neighbors. You built your business from nothing and have come so far to have it all destroyed by this man.

We commend your passion in devoting countless hours of your life to assist those less fortunate in life by contributing back to not just your community, but areas throughout the United States.

You have so many friends and supporters from around the country who stand ready to help you address what has been forced upon you.

It is the understanding of many of us that District Attorney Ramos actually looked you in the eye and assured you that no evidence of any wrongdoing had ever been found against you. It is also our understanding that a Mr. David Ellis, a representative for the District Attorney informed you that a clearance letter directed at you was forthcoming.

Apparently, this was all just an elaborate ruse. Continue reading

iePolitics: S.B. County: Time to Consolidate the Public Defender and the District Attorney

In iePolitics’ always-continuing quest to assist San Bernardino County administrators in balancing their budget, we have happened upon an obvious cost-cutting measure.  We know that District Attorney Mike Ramos and Public Defender Doreen Boxer have already joined . . . um . . . forces, in a Biblical sense of course, so the next step only makes sense.  It’s time to consolidate the two departments and allow District Attorney Ramos to have the final decision over all criminal proceedings in San Bernardino County.

“We can’t do that,” you say.  Why not?  Conflicts of interest do not seem to be of concern to anyone.  Take for example, one of the most recent campaign contributions to Ramos of $10,000.  That contribution brings the total to $83000 that the law affiliation of conflict panel attorneys James Spring and Earl Carter have given to Ramos since 2004 to support his re-election.  This equates to 15 to 20 percent of all campaign contributions received in that same period.  The conflict panel attorneys are Ramos’ single largest contributor. iePolitics: “If only I had a brain”

One can only imagine the discussion during the special closed-door San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, called by Supervisor Josie Gonzales.  I wonder which of the four remaining supervisors will be blessed with the duty of having to explain to Gonzales the identities of John Does 4 and 5.  At least it will be entertaining for the others.

So Josie, since you seem to think the Board of Supervisors needs to investigate itself, where do you propose to start?  Do you realize that all four of the remaining supervisors and a number of their support staff “profitted” from the Colonies settlement in one way or another.  So, do you believe that the other four supervisors should place themselves on Administrative Leave and let you run the show? iePolitics: Board Holidays and Meetings

As previously reported, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) is only meeting this year 27 out of 52 weeks, which proves we could do just fine with a part-time Board of Supervisors.  Besides for the usual 12 “dark” weeks due to regular holidays, the BOS has found an additional 13 holidays to celebrate to justify their additional “darkness.”

Next Tuesday is “Do a Grouch a Favor Day,” which is an appropriate reason to be dark.  Unfortunately, San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael Ramos has gotten in the way with his corruption scandal implicating two of five sitting board members.  Fifth District Supervisor Josie Gonzales has called for an emergency closed session meeting on Tuesday in an email that read:

Due to the shocking new allegations of a far-reaching criminal conspiracy contained in the Postmus-Erwin complaint released today, I ask that an emergency closed session meeting of the Board of Supervisors be scheduled.  The members of the board must be apprised of our legal options and give direction expeditiously.

Ya know, next time Moonbeam is in town, Josie needs to join him and Ramos on the podium.  They would make a great three-some.

Of course, the Board of Supervisors didn’t listen to iePolitics and get rid of County Counsel Ruth Stringer when they had the chance.  Now they have to get their legal advice from her.  They might all just as well attend dressed in orange jumpsuits.

iePolitics: The Governor’s Race

Months ago some Republican operatives were quietly admitting defeat in the Governor’s race no matter which of the then-three candidates won the Republican nomination.  I didn’t like that defeatest attitude but have slowly resigned myself to the possibility of having Moonbeam as our governor again.  It could be worse as the Governator has proven so I wasn’t too worried.

Now that we have seen Moonbeam in action right here in our own little county, we should all be grateful that Republican hopeful Meg Whitman is starting to grow on voters.  Meg is not the best of orators, but once she receives the nomination, she REALLY needs to debate Moonbeam. Continue reading

Senator Barbara Boxer: Moonbeam and Babs

February 12, 2010

Dear Friend:

Anthem Blue Cross of California insures more than 800,000 Californians in the individual market, and it has announced that those policy holders would see rate increases of up to 39 percent, effective March 1.

Like most Californians, I am shocked and outraged over these steep rate hikes. That is why I recently wrote to California Attorney General Edmund G. Brown, Jr., urging him to investigate Anthem’s proposed rate increases. I want to share the text of this letter with you: Continue reading

iePolitics: Where is the other arrest?

Since we now all know that former San Bernardino Assistant Assessor and proverbial yellow Canary Adam Aleman’s word can be taken as gospel truth, why wasn’t former California Senator Jim Brulte arrested also?  He wasn’t even named as a John Doe. (Nothing personal Jim!  However, Erwin has had no luck getting the number for the off-shore account from Aleman so maybe you can give it a try.)

Aleman told investigators that both Jim Brulte and Jim Erwin received one percent of the Colonies Settlement as a kickback, which equates to $1.o2 million each.

It seems we have different standards of proof and believability depending on whether one is friend or foe of San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos.

iePolitics: Yet Another Opponent for Supervisor Paul Biane

Sacramento-based sources claim that Senator Robert Dutton (R-31) will throw his hat into the ring to unseat embattled San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Paul Biane.  Three others, Upland Mayor John “JP” Pomierski, KCAA radio host Peter “Scott” Markovich, and publisher of The Alpenphorn News, Dennis Labadie, have all expressed interest in the seat, with the latter two having already declared their candidacies.

Biane was implicated this week as John Doe 5 in a criminal complaint alleging conspiracy and bribery when San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos filed charges against former Assessor and Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Postmus and former Assistant Assessor and Third District Chief of Staff Jim Erwin. This, combined with other on-going legal issues, opens the door for a likely successful unseating of Biane. Continue reading

iePolitics: Deaths at Havasu Lake

Information is surfacing about the possible cover up of several deaths at Havasu Lake by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.  iePolitics is investigating further but we have been told that at a rave during the Labor Day weekend in 2001 at least five deaths occurred.  We are also told that this band of Chemehuevi Indians are campaign contributors to one or more members of our Board of Supervisors.  Here is a link to a short magazine article:  Havasu Homepage

From what I am told, these are only a few of the deaths that have occurred over a period of years.  If anyone has additional information, please email us at info@iepolitics.com

InlandPolitics: Is dirty politics behind District Attorney actions? – Part 2

In this article we will take a close look at the destroy-at-all-cost targeting of San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos and his Orange County-based political consultant David Ellis, owner of Delta Partners, LLC.

One thing is for certain. It’s becoming increasingly obvious Ramos’ agenda in his falsely-proclaimed never-ending quest to rid San Bernardino County of political corruption, and it definitely isn’t about fighting crime.

That agenda being, neutralize the county’s west-end political power base.

In our last article we discussed the Ramos/Ellis back-stabbing of two politicos. The two being Deputy District Attorney and former Ontario City Councilman Jason Anderson, a now former friend and client of Ellis and perceived threat to Ramos, and Patrick O’Reilly, CEO of Riverside-based O’Reilly Public Relations, and now former friend of Ellis. iePolitics: The Colonies Settlement Agreement, Part I

Yesterday’s new conference with San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael “sexual predator” Ramos and California Attorney General Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown seemed to include a lot of  hyperbole and leave out a few facts.  In one of the latter political whore’s best effort at grandstanding, Brown stated,

What is significant here is the most appalling corruption case in decades, certainly in the history of San Bernardino County and maybe California itself.  Individuals corrupted public office and were able to grab more than $100 million of the taxpayers’ money through this scheme.

There is one very big problem with this statement.  The county had lost twice in court already.  It was strongly suggested to the county by the trial court judge that it attempt to reach a settlement.  The Colonies asked for $300 million and the county settled for $102 million.  That settlement was negotiated with the help of a mediator who just happened to be a retired California Supreme Court Justice.

Jim has a copy of the last page of the agreement and a bio of the justice on his blog.  To read Jim’s entry, click here.

Senator Robert Dutton: Time to Put California Jobs First

Senator Dutton's Banner

***Dutton Report Special***

Time to Put California Jobs First

Yesterday several California small business owners and my Republican colleagues joined together to emphasize the importance of private sector job creation and to continue our campaign to revive California’s struggling economy.

Our campaign titled “California Jobs First” seeks to:

  • Stop jobs from leaving our state
  • Restore California’s competitiveness as a jobs-friendly state
  • Cut wasteful government spending and needless bureaucracy
  • Provide regulatory relief for individuals and small businesses
  • End the frivolous lawsuits that raise our cost of living
Jobs Press Conference
Watch as I join private business owners and members of the Senate and Assembly during the “California Jobs First 2010″ press conference on Feb. 10, 2010. (VIEW VIDEO)

Since 2000 we’ve lost over 600,000 manufacturing jobs. Adding insult to injury, regulators are now developing global warming regulations that will cost our state 1.1 million more jobs. Regulations are killing jobs in California.

To protect private sector jobs, I’ve introduced Senate Bill 960 that will require the non partisan Legislative Analyst’s Office to determine the cost effectiveness and feasibility of regulations imposed by the California Air Resources Board.

I’ve also introduced Senate Bill 942 that will require the State Auditor to review existing regulations and point out those that are unnecessary or too costly to implement. The bill will also sunset all regulations after 10 years unless they are determined they are necessary. These measures and others like them will help private business and bring some common sense back to our regulatory climate.

It takes 25 private sector jobs to support every state government job. We need to stop killing private sector jobs that help provide the funds necessary to build roads, support our schools and make our communities a safer place to live and work.

Over the next several days my Republican colleagues and I will be introducing many more pieces of legislation aimed at lifting the burdens that are hurting job creators. It’s time we put the small businesses of California first instead of making them wait at the end of the line.

California will recover from this current recession. It is up to the Legislature to determine how long the recovery will take.

In 2010, along with my Republican colleagues, I will continue to make job creation and economic recovery the number one priority. In the coming weeks, we plan to introduce and support bills that improve the jobs climate.

As a matter of fact, everything that the Legislature does this year should be viewed from the perspective of its impacts on California jobs – every bill, every budget line-item, and every regulation.

The first action is to stop California jobs from fleeing our state. With a 12.4 percent unemployment rate, translating to 2.25 million Californians out of work, the Legislature needs to stop jobs from leaving the state. Republican Legislators will continue to stand united in 2010 in opposition to tax increases and job killer bills.

Next, we must restore California’s Competitive Job Creation Climate. Continue reading

Supervisor Neil Derry: Tour of California Cycling Race Featuring Lance Armstrong

Gets Financial Boost from Supervisor Neil Derry

Derry procures $40,000 in funding for event preparation

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Seeking to capitalize on the anticipated economic boom that will result from hosting the Amgen Tour of California in Big Bear Lake, San Bernardino County Supervisor Neil Derry worked to procure various sources of funding to assist in preparation for the May 21st event.

The Tour of California is a world-class cycling event featuring Lance Armstrong and other internationally known competitors.

“All eyes will be on San Bernardino County as hosts the first mountaintop finish and I am excited about the immediate economic impact and broader ability, to showcase our region as a great place to do business,” Supervisor Derry said. “Past host cities and surrounding regions have seen a noticeable impact in economic activity and we are hopeful to benefit from the same during these tough economic times.” Continue reading

iePolitics: Blood Stains, Part 4

This post could have just as easily been entitled, “I told you so again” but honestly I am very saddened by today’s news regarding John Does 1 through 5 as described in the Jim Erwin/Bill Postmus arrest affidavit. I was writing a message to Mark Kirk when I remembered a comment I made in my first “Blood Stains” post which read (emphasis added):

The elected leaders in this county have blood stains on their hands, not from touching the hand of the crucified Christ, but from playing with the Devil and destroying the innocent, the poor and the weak.  They have not used their power and authority with wisdom, grace, or benevolence, but rather with selfishness, abusiveness, intolerance, indifference and mean-spiritedness.

Doing what is right can sometimes be painful, but will never be as painful as being brought to one’s knees by an angry God who gave in abundance only to see it unappreciated and abused. Everyone on the Fifth Floor has been given an abundance; some would say an overabundance.  One day many of them may wake up to find it gone and their power gone too.  Then it will  be they who ask for grace and mercy.  Maybe if they are lucky we will have replaced them with leaders with integrity who show them more grace and mercy than the current leadership has shown us. iePolitics: Latest on Postmus and Erwin (Update 1)

I’m afraid I’ve been very busy today moving so I learned of the arrests last this morning and didn’t have an internet connection.  As of a short time ago Bill Postmus has made bail.  I’m told they are trying to get Jim out today too.

I’m told the rumor is true that Bill did have meth in his possession at the time of his arrest, which will likely be the only legitimate charge in all of this.

I know both have their detractors but this bail is ridiculous.  See my previous article on the subject:  Eighth Amendment

Anyone of us could find ourselves the object of a district attorney’s or law enforcement officer’s wrath.  As I keeping saying, an out-of-control district attorney is more dangerous to a free society than any criminal he prosecutes.

iePolitics: “She drank the Kool-Aid”

I’m sure that is what the reporter who called me a little while ago regarding Former Assessor Bill Postmus’ and Former Assistant Assessor Jim Erwin’s early morning arrests was thinking.  Well, yes, as a matter of fact I do believe this is just another attempt by a desperate district attorney to be re-elected and a governor-wannabe-again feeling the pressure from Meg Whitman.

Ramos will do anything to deflect from his own misdeeds.  And time will prove these charges are as trumped up as the last ones.

One thing comes to mind here and that is something Postmus keeps telling me.  He claims this whole corruption scandal is the result of Mike Ramos wanting to get at Jeff Burum.  He thought Erwin would roll on Jeff the first time.  If anything, their friendship seems stronger.  I expect today’s event to strengthen it even more. Congressman Buck McKeon: Health Care

District Update | February 10, 2010
United States Congressman
Serving the 25th District of California
Article of Interest: Health Care
The government take-over of health care has stalled in Congress for now, in large part thanks to you, your friends and your neighbors who took a stand against it.  Thank you for your involvement.

While the House and Senate bills have stalled, certain portions of those bills may be voted on individually or rolled into other bills, so we need to be more vigilant than ever as the health care debate continues.

I found an interesting article that I wanted to share with you by Mort Kondracke, Executive Editor of Roll Call, that discusses certain portions of these bills. Kondracke explains why the Congressional Democrats’ version of health care reform will result in higher premiums for those with insurance.

Voters Are Right: They’ll Pay a Lot for Health Care Reform
By Morton M. Kondracke
Roll Call Executive Editor

The White House and liberal think tanks insist that health care reform will lower costs, but the public isnt buying it – and for good reasons.

Practically every aspect of the bills Democrats are considering – from covering the uninsured to taxes on providers, insurance reforms and Medicare cuts – will result in higher premiums for those with insurance. And unless Congress is willing to impose stricter cost controls than presently contemplated, many experts think there’s little chance of bending the curve of national health outlays or premiums. PE: Questions are raised about the Humane Society’s longtime practice of euthanizing hundreds of animals a month

Administrator:  I got blasted when I wrote about this a while back including from one of the blog’s biggest supporters.  I was assured it wasn’t true. It’s sounding a heck of a lot more true as more people go public.

10:46 PM PST on Sunday, February 7, 2010 By MARK MUCKENFUSS
The Press-Enterprise

Volunteers and donors to the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley said they were surprised to learn that the organization had been euthanizing close to 10,000 animals per year.

Most of the euthanasias were performed after hours by a small group of people.

Former employees said even some who worked at the Humane Society were unaware of the activity, which has gone on for years.

Those contacted for this story said that if they questioned the practice, they were told not to worry about it. If they persisted, they said, they were fired.

A letter by a former veterinarian for the agency complained of “truckloads” of healthy animals being euthanized. Continue reading

iePolitics: More on Havasu Lake

First off, the First District Chief of Staff called me today to set the record straight.  He says he never received my messages and I will give him the benefit of the doubt.  He also said they purposely leave appointees in expired terms expired.  That being said, here is another email I received from a Havasu Lake resident:

Dear Sharon,

Please refer to the 2-9-10 BOS consent calender #2 (f) reappointment of Mike Aleksich to the Havasu Lake M.A.C (g) reappointment of Terry Gardner to the Havasu Lake M.A.C.

First District has decided to go ahead with these appointments even though we are still awaiting the disclosure of the documents (Minutes from the M.A.C. and it subcommittees as well as any appointment books, phone logs and correspondence) requested on 5-26-09 and subsequently obfuscated by Karen Chamberlain, unappointed M.A.C. secretary and wife of triple felon and M.A.C. chairman Gary Chamberlain.

The obfuscation of these documents from all who have asked for them, Robert Eland from first district and Daniel Hauter from the county councils office, fits nicely into the pattern and practice of bald faced corruption here in San Bernardino County.

The proposed reappointment of individuals with dirty hands to our corruption plagued M.A.C. without the disclosure of the documents in question should be tabled until disclosure has occurred and the public has had a chance to comment. How can the BOS make an informed decision as to the appointees record without the minutes?

In the past Tim Millington (Special Districts) actually had to drive out here and seize a box of records from Karen to compel compliance with an earlier Records Request! And Brad maintained her in the position of Secretary!

This situation is all too familiar; it’s negligent.  At no time in the past ten years has Brad (nor his predecessor and mentor Bill Postmus) ever taken the time to attend even one of our M.A.C. meetings which are held under the auspices of the First District Supervisors Office!

Now Brad wants to double dip the disrespect with the imposition of these two corrupt cronies!

It is important to note that this is a Bill Postmus Legacy issue, Bill Having first appointed both of the cronies in question, Terry Gardner sitting on the M.A.C. without appointment from 2005-2010.

Common sense would preclude anyone involved with the corrupt M.A.C. or Bill Postmus from serious consideration for appointment to represent the town of Havasu Lake.

No M.A.C. is much safer than a corrupt M.A.C. unable or unwilling to behave in a responsible manner.  A quarterly visit from the Supervisor would more than suffice to replace our M.A.C.

Thank You

P.S. Even with the two proposed appointments our M.A.C. still lacks a quorum!

In fairness to former First District Supervisor Bill Postmus, he swears to me he attended at least one Havasu Lake MAC meeting.  And the chief of staff seems like he wants to resolve this issue.  He indicated that the only individuals at this point who have applied for the positions are the incumbents.  I guess we will see what happens.

iePolitics: Blackmail in TAD?

This rumor has been floating around for a while, but I finally talked to someone who has some first-hand knowledge of the claims. I have often questioned why a San Bernardino County Transitional Assistance Department (TAD) Employment Services Manager, who was investigated, demoted and transferred for racial discrimination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment and utter incompetence, would face a second demotion and transfer for new charges a couple years later.  Any other employee would be fired the second time around if not the first. San Bernardino County announced last Friday that it was delaying a planned budget workshop for another month.

For a county that has been asleep at the switch in closing an estimated budget shortfall of $90 million-plus in its upcoming fiscal year is anyone surprised?

Neighboring Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, and San Diego Counties have at least been continually taking budget reduction steps in an effort to keep their respective situations manageable. Continue reading

iePolitics: The Eighth Amendment Doesn’t Exist in San Bernardino County

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

˜Eighth Amendment, Constitution of the United States˜

Today’s hearing in which Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, entered a plea of not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges and bail was set at $75,000, three times the usual bail for an involuntary manslaughter charge, begs a comparison to San Bernardino County’s own high-profile prosecutions. Those, of course, are the Jim Erwin and Bill Postmus criminal cases. Continue reading

Pamela Zander: Campaign to Replace Joe Baca

Good Afternoon,

I am running for the 43rd Dist. (Baca’s Seat) and would love to get your support.

As a strong Republican, I believe our Constitutional Principles, are being threatened by the factions of a Socialist mind and trying to bring balance to a divided House is difficult; however, with conviction of values fixed deep within my soul, I have been “on a mission”, to exalt this position, as set forth by the Oath everyone takes when signing in for the Office.

Why am I interested in such an office, you might ask?

1. The convergence of interest and morality, has brought an enormous disadvantage to Congress, as our Economic Infrastructure wanes in the balance of a once, wealthy nation.

2. The moral and virtuous framework of our freedoms with respect to liberty, justice and the over-all respect of property seems to be by the demand of the current administration and not by the Bill of Rights, Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence.

3. I would like to implement the ethical traditions of our Constitution, which once was the driving force of “EXCELLENCE” in the US. Continue reading

iePolitics: Is Greg Devereaux’s Impending Arrival Being Felt in TAD

So much of what we call management consists in making it difficult for people to work.

Peter Drucker

Interesting changes are being made in San Bernardino County’s Transitional Assistance Department’s (TAD) management structure.  Unless Assistant Administrative Officer Linda Haugen and TAD Director Nancy Swanson are even more stupid than we already know, they have to be very nervous about the new head honcho in town, County Administrative Officer (CAO) Greg Devereaux.  Linda Haugen was able to . . . um “charm” . . . her way out of trouble with former CAO Mark Uffer but those who have worked with Devereaux say he cannot be “persuaded” by the same means.  We know that neither Linda nor Nancy are capable of producing anything resembling a well-thought-out and intelligent work product, so they have a lot to worry about.

Before being devoured by TAD, the Jobs and Employment Services Department (JESD) was considered one of the best departments to work for in the county.  Employment Services Specialist positions were highly sought after.  The department was known for treating its employees and the public very well.  It had a positive work environment for employees and did an awesome job of helping the less fortunate in our community. InlandPolitics Commentary: Biane wants everyone to drink his “Kool-Aid”

It seems San Bernardino County Supervisor Paul Biane would like all of us to drink his flavor of “Kool-Aid”.

However, in Biane’s case it’s either a bottle of Kettle One vodka or a few bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Biane, who himself has apparently been a subject of focus by District Attorney Michael Ramos is attempting to woefully spin a ridiculous story that no one believes.

The District Attorney has made a referral to the California Fair Political Practices Commission related to a trip the two-term county supervisor and incoming county administrative officer Greg Devereaux took with two West Valley businessmen in September 2008.

While Devereaux appears to have made an honest attempt to comply with state law regarding such travel by public officials, Biane did the opposite. Continue reading

InlandPolitics: Fact Check: Can District Attorney Ramos tell the truth about anything?

District Attorney Mike Ramos

Pathetic.

There’s just no other word to describe it. Well maybe “disingenuous” might work as well.

Does San Bernardino County District Attorney Mike Ramos have an honest bone in his body?

Since the re-election window is approaching on the event horizon, our illustrious District Attorney has embarked on taking credit for everything around. Sources tell InlandPolitics this may soon include the invention of sliced bread.

If anything, Ramos prostituting himself around the county is at least entertaining.

This week we were all treated to how Ramos envisioned and implemented the District Attorney Truancy Program. A highly successful program that has dramatically reduced student truancy throughout the county.

As usual, local newspapers fell for the Ramos public relations sham. Gullible Inland newspapers oozed out articles and editorials praising Ramos for his great idea.

Not so fast! Continue reading

iePolitics: New Orleans Wins Superbowl!

Rank ‘Em: One-Ring Starting Quarterbacks

Created: February 4, 2010, 12:29 PM

Now that Drew Brees has his ring, where does he rank among the greats?

After completing the best season in New Orleans Saints history, Drew Brees has finally won his first Super Bowl.

Brees’ lone Super Bowl victory puts him on an eclectic list of starting quarterbacks with one title to their names. From all-time greats like Brett Favre to big personalities like Jim McMahon, 18 men have started and won pro football’s biggest game but once in their careers.

Below, we’ve listed the 18, and now it’s up to you to rank them from top to bottom.

You must submit at least FIVE for your rankings to count.

iePolitics: More on Grass Roots Campaigns

It seems like this election cycle we have more than the normal amount of challengers in local races.  I suspect that has to do with the fact that so many of us are fed up with the arrogance, greed and lack of integrity of most of our elected leaders.  My friends, those of the political persuasion—y’all know which ones I mean—don’t think any of these candidates stand a chance because they don’t have the hundreds of thousands of dollars it takes to fill our mailboxes with an over-abundance of slick campaign flyers.  And much of our more-recent election history proves them right.

That being said, I’m not particularly ready to throw in the towel and sit back while so many completely corrupt incumbents have an easy time of it, spending their war chests on criminal defense and living the high life.  Some of them are incredibly cocky about their expected victories before even knowing the entire list of candidates running against them.  They know they have the big bucks to finance their campaigns if they need it.  We know who they are and who the contributors are who will give them unlimited funds to assure they stay in office. Mike Morrell: Campaign

Dear Friends,

In California, a lot is at stake in 2010. While many in politics tax our lives to the hilt, new candidates speak of “fixing the problems” in Sacramento. But will these same men and women try to fix the problems with more government programs or more public spending?

I have raised my family and built my business on the American pillar of self-government. If elected to our State Assembly, I will keep my word to fight to end the job killing regulations, the anti-family laws, and the new taxes passed by the liberals in our State Assembly. If not, I will resign. Period. Continue reading

Ken Hunter: Test For Echo

While the president of our nation tells us to stop watching political news, we the people have ignored that order. While he may prefer to rule over an uninformed electorate, he is too late. Just as Washington DC is an island surrounded by reality, so is Sacramento. The echo chambers are inside the Capitols-not outside.

Political news is on the hearts, minds and lips everywhere in town, at the post office, coffee shop; at the grocery store and at the bank…That is all you hear folks talking about.  A few years ago you would expect to hear the usual complaints about our government with few or no solutions offered. Now I hear desperate pleas to implement real solutions while our leaders would prefer for you and I to mind our own business. Now this generation has learned anew it is their government and as its rightful owners, they will be taking it back with no apologies offered. Continue reading

iePolitics: So Maybe Not All is Well in Havasu Lake After All

After posting the story below, I received a not-so-happy email regarding the situation at Havasu Lake.  It was not aimed at me, but at Supervisor Mitzelfelt.  Here it is:

Dear Sharon:

These are the people that caused you to write about BLOODY HANDS, and you are familiar with the theory of “DIRTY HANDS”, it seems that they cannot tell the truth if their life depended on it!

I am in possession of the official record and Frank Bigwood is not on the M.A.C! Becky Griffin confirmed this in a telephone conversation with me and insisted that the published M.A.C. roster is accurate and no other appointments have been made to our M.A.C.

Mike Aleksich and Terry Gardner have been part and parcel of the corrupt, fraudulent M.A.C. both displaying highly questionable ability to deal in good faith with issues of public safety.

Both Terry and Mike have taken part in a campain to actually dissuade C.H.P. patrol of Havasu Lake as well as actual violations of law, Brown act, Public records act,and more!(CORRUPTION)

Both Terry and Mike have sat on a County Board when they Knew very well that the make up of that board was in fact Fraudulent with two never appointed imposters(Rich Fiala, Lucille Ogle) and a triple felon as chair! Our M.A.C. has lacked a quorum since 2004 at least and these people were part of the deception!

The record of events at Havasu Lake is clear. These appointments do nothing to better our dire situation, the appointment of Frank Bigwood being especially detrimental to political discourse at already troubled Havasu lake. Frank serves as editor of the Havasu Sun where he was forced to agree not to carry any hard news coverage of Havasu Lake in our only local paper! A quick review of the past several years of The Sun shows this to be true.(Franks#1.760.858.4729)

As far as our M.A.C. goes it is even worse, during Gary, Terry’s and Mike’s tenure of fraud our local school was closed and not one mention at M.A.C., our Court House was closed and not a word, our locals being pre-occupied with carrying on vendettas against neighboring individuals and businesses, as well as attempting to shield 502s. This sad record speaks for itself and indicates that these individuals are not qualified to serve on our M.A.C.

Frank is not on the M.A.C. and anyone who alleges otherwise is a liar, lets see the appointment documents! Thank you !

iePolitics: Highway 138 Widening

I just came across this comment on the blog.  I do not know how I missed it.  Can anyone shed some light?

I take that route on occasion because it is peaceful and beautiful.  It would be a shame to see this happen to that area.

Dear Sharon, IEPolitcs came recommended to me as a possible way to shut down a boondoggle of a project perpetrated on us my our Board of Supervisors. They plan on widening the road on which we live. It is Summit Valley Road, it connects Hesperia to the I-15 via a very winding road called State Hwy 138. They intend to use eminent domain and steal property to make Summit Valley Road a 4 lane expressway, which will dump into a two lane very winding 138. They have had the meetings and told us to our face that this project is 5 to 7 years off, but we found out today that it is very close to going into the construction phase. I am so sick of lying politicians. There must be some recourse to make them accountable to their constituencies. I would be eternally grateful for any help you could provide. Thank you. iePolitics: Havasu Lake MAC–Progress Has Been Made

You know Brad, this would have been so much less embarrassing for you if your Chief of Staff would have just returned my text message.  He didn’t even have to talk to me.  But in the end, at least we have made progress.  No more convicted felon on the MAC.  And there are two appointments being made on Tuesday.  Very good.  Still not sure how Frank Bigwood is on the MAC, but maybe there was a board item not in file at the clerk’s office.

I also noticed you are going to help out the Havasu Senior Center.  Good for you.  I know the good people of Havasu Lake appreciate your efforts.

Member Seat Status Seat Position Nomination Type
Vacant Vacant Regular District 1
Bigwood, Frank Filled Regular District 1
Aleksich, Michael Filled Regular District 1
Vacant Vacant Regular District 1
Gardner, Terry L. Filled Regular District 1

There is still the problem of the disappearing MAC minutes taken by the felon’s wife.  Or has that been resolved too?  Stringer’s office seems to be putting up roadblocks to keep the public from being able to view those minutes.
